And The Winner Is.....
DDLC CLUB OF THE YEAR GOES TO BALDOYLE DISTRICT B.C. Following the Presentations to all the Mixed Teams on Saturday night to complete the finale of this Dublin & District Season, the "Cormac Breslin" Perpetual Trophy for the “DDLC Club of The Year 2018” was awarded to ……BALDOYLE DISTRICT BADMINTON CLUB.

When the Award was announced, the huge crowd of Club Supporters went wild. It's been a long time coming say many and this was the cherry on the cake after our Mx6 side beat Rush in a thrilling end-to-end final at the venue.
What they (DDLC) said: "Baldoyle District are one of the most friendly and yet competitive clubs around. A club that exude enthusiasm and fun in their badminton and in their many social activities as a club. Their players and supporters are ever present in all the DDLC Leagues and Cups and at our graded events. Mike & Christine Smith, two of the founding members of Baldoyle District Badminton Club, accepted the Club of the Year Award from Leinster Badminton’s President Tommy McGrath. Well done Baldoyle District BC very well deserving of this award".
High praise indeed from the DDLC and its judging panel and we thank them for this prestigious honour. It is a credit to all the hard work that Mick & Christina, the Club Committee and its Members put in, year in and year out. Our club has a Leinster-wide reputation for strong and fair teams, great supporters, fabulous after-match food and a great social side.

As Mick's voice had gone, as a result of too much singing ("O flower of Scotland....We love you Derek, we love you Derek") it was up to the lovely Christina Smith to say a few words in accepting the award for DDLC Club of the Year Award 2018. Watch the short video below:
Mobbed!
Of course the moment Christina had finished, to rapturous applause I might add, she was mobbed by club members who all wanted to pose and selfie with the "Cormac Breslin" Perpetual Trophy (...and why not!!!)

A Great Night!
All in attendance, I'm sure would agree it was a fantastic Day and Night. Summer made an entrance (and then swiftly fecked off on Sunday!), Mx6 are Champions and we get Club of the Year! For those who were unable to attend I hope this post gives a little flavour of what you missed but we all know you were rooting for us wherever you were.
Personally, it's an honour to be part of this great club and I know many of you feel the same. Here's to the award and many more to come!
